Gun Diary at 50 Years
CBS aired S07E23 – "Diary Of A Gun" 50 years ago tonight.
This is a “pass the gun along” type episode. I’m not too keen on it but here goes. Tommy Fujiwara is the leader of a gang bringing Saturday night specials onto the islands. One gun in particular makes the rounds when it’s initially sold for $20.
A lot of mayhem ensues including one guy killing his wife for cheating on him. The gun does wind up in a mailbox – that’s always fun. Another guy is shot on the beach after he asks for directions from a rowdy bunch of kids. Why they shoot him, it seems pretty dumb to me.
The gun is finally recovered from a known criminal after a car chase and a shootout with police. Five-O also busts the ring at their warehouse which is kind of off the beaten path.
Mr. Mike always does a way better job than I do. His review is here: https://www.fiveohomepage.com/5-0log7.htm#167
As Mr. Mike says, this episode isn’t anything special to write home about. But, it does give a bunch of the stock players lots to do and that’s fun to watch
Happy 50th, “Diary Of A Gun”!!
P.S. Sorry for the late post and it being so short. My final follow-up for my ankle is tomorrow and I can’t wait! Things are getting back to normal pretty quickly. :)

Diary Of A Gun 2 ⭐⭐ Stars Out Of 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. McG & HFO Team try to chase down a Saturday Night Special causing a deadly trail in Hawaii as it passes from 1 person to another. It probably worked better in F.O.B. Honolulu as the two counterfeit $20 plates also created a deadly trail. The owner of the plates usually ended up dead. Diary Of A Gun has its moments like a mail carrier finding the weapon. Later, using it on his cheating wife and boyfriend. Also, a young boy finds the Special shooting himself with it. 2 people that would surprise you with the gun. There's also a second story as HFO tries to find the distributors and suppliers of the Saturday Night Specials. The episode has a fitting ending as a recent ex-con has a woman with him. He's robbing liquor stores and places. They end up on some new roads under construction 🚧. Diary Of A Gun also appears incomplete and need of better construction. This could have been a 3.5 or 4 Star ⭐⭐⭐⭐ episode with some better ideas and writing. I think the ex-con taking the weapon did not make sense. A criminal just out of prison he's going to hopefully try and lay low for awhile. At least enjoy himself for a few months before going back to the slammer. I did like the ending when McG gained possession of the Saturday Night Special. The gun did enough damage in a short period of time. JC
