6,000 Tickets at 50 years

CBS aired S07E24 – "6,000 Deadly Tickets" 50 years ago tonight.

First, let me say, this is the last episode for Season 7! It’s crazy.

Second, sorry for the lateness of the post – real life got in the way the last couple of days.

What we have is basically a big extortion ring to sell stolen airline tickets. Five-O gets involved when a robbery turns deadly. Blank airline tickets are given out to travel agencies with three months’ worth of supplies. However, they can only keep two days’ worth on hand. This is explained by both Simpson (Bill Edwards) and the dude from DC representing the Air Traffic Conference who issues the tickets. Harry Rosen (Jack Kosslyn) assists Five-O quite a bit, including taking a bullet at the end.

After a travel agency is blown up by Fred Burke (Jack Hogan) who works for the head of the racket, Win Low (Kwan Hi Lim), Rosen is quickly found out. It all comes down to a shoot-out in the canal where Burke finally gives up.

I can relate to this episode because when I first joined the Air National Guard, I worked for a travel agency. The tickets used in real life are coded by airline. It’s a big pain. Anyway, it’s been years since I was in the industry (nevermind, that it really imploded) and I couldn’t tell you every little detail.

There is a detail in the episode where a guy was trying to get a good deal and wound up in McGarrett’s office. This was a nice touch because this is the part the racket doesn’t care about – disrupting all sorts of peoples’ lives who just don’t want to spend a lot of money on plane tickets.

One of the most memorable scenes is when McGarrett’s car slides in the grass. The chase by McGarrett is really fun because it’s different. It’s the car chasing the boat in the canal.

I don’t have really anymore to say about the episode, other than it was a decent way to wrap up Season 7.
