He looks amazing! I only perused the article but I can see why he was so successful. He studied ballet in the 1940s - how daring at the time. :)
I got Chakiris' book (My West Side Story) out of the library, he has this to say about his H50 appearance:
"There are worth-waiting-for location shoots. Getting paid, for example, to take a first-class trip to Honolulu for an episode of Hawaii Five-O. I played a shady district attorney. The script was especially well written, and Jack Lord was a real pleasure to work with, an actor who took a lot of pride in his series and maintained a very high standard of professionalism on the set."
