Slide projector in Family Crook episode

The slide projector in the Family Crook episode has these massive python-like hoses connected to the back of it. Does anyone know what these are for? Cooling or something?

That's exactly what they're used for. You have to remember that equipment at the time generated a lot of heat and the tech didn't exist to cool it down like we have today.

You should have seen some of the stuff we had in the field at my first duty assignment: there were tubes like that everywhere to keep our communications equipment cool and functioning!
