Sorry, I've been overcome by RL events.
On November 26 50 years ago, CBS aired S07E10 – “A Gun For McGarrett”
An English bloke, who thinks he has everything figured out – really doesn't. S.N. Savage (Ivor Barry) is trying to essentially take over all the illegal operations in the Islands. He meets with the heads of each group and crows about what the news shouts out: the Five-O offices have been bombed! (Not by turkeys, that's another show).
The bomb enters McGarrett's office via a plaque from a bogus organization. How the whole corner of the Palace wasn't blown apart is beyond me. Anyway, the bomb kills an HPD officer who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. McGarrett is injured but alive.
Danno takes over a bit but has a real problem keeping McGarrett down. Go figure. They move on to some shakedowns that are happening and speak to shop owner. She is Marni Howard (Carol White) who, like Savage, is British. She is later beaten up and gets close to McGarrett.
When all is said and done, SHE is the actual planned assassin. (more on that below). McGarrett and Five-O figure this out and replace the bullets in her gun with blanks. With her help at the end, they set up Savage to arrest all of them.
Mr. Mike wrote his review for this episode. It’s here: https://www.fiveohomepage.com/5-0log7.htm#154
This is not one of my favorites. It's decent and flows well but some things seem forced to me. Upon watching it initially, the twist was surprising. But on subsequent re-watches, it's obvious that Marni is the assassin who is supposed to take McGarrett out.
McGarrett also proves he can't be kept down. It's called delegation man! Anyway..that's my two cents.
Regardless, Happy 50th, “A Gun For McGarrett”!!
