I'm reading this book Cult TV (published in England, there are a lot of UK shows included). See the attached section about Mannix, which they say was "almost certainly the most violent crime series ever to appear on TV."

Not to mention most episodes featured Mannix getting beaten up, run off the road, shot in the arm or getting his skull creased by the butt of a gun!
