50 years ago tonight, CBS aired S07E18 – "Ring Of Life".
Don Knight is back as a greedy, sick dude out to make a fast $1 million. He is Coin Nichols who has traveled globally to put together five figurines that actually belong to India.
Nichols arrives in Hawaii to track down the last piece. He tortures and kills art dealer Avery Marsh (Don David Levy) to find the location of this last piece. The Museum of Asian Art in Honolulu is curated by Willard Coleman (William Prince). Coleman has been doing some sketchy stuff and McGarrett warns him about his practices.
Working with Coleman is Dr. Sheila Cramer (Penelope Windust) who is trying to do the same as Nichols but she has a slight upper hand. She already has a deal in place with Ram Bushan (Harvey Jason) who is with the Indian Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
There's a lot of cat and mouse and killing that happens in this episode. Nichols is so desperate, he runs with the case with the five figurines during his last meeting with Bushan. They are in the middle of nowhere with a lot of big cars that the road can barely hold and a convertible Mustang belonging to Dr. Cramer. McGarrett and Five-O nab Nichols and recover the artifacts.
Mr. Mike always does a much, much better job than I do. His review is here: https://www.fiveohomepage.com/5-0log7.htm#162
Not crazy about this episode but it's one of those that you can watch at any time and be entertained. I like the international flavor of this episode. There's nothing else that really stands out in this show that I can think of.
Regardless, Happy 50th, “Ring Of Life”!!
P.S. Still healing from my injury - got a walking boot today (YAY!!)
