Thread: Is this from a Hawaii Five-O Episode?

Hi everyone. I was trying to find a particular Hawaii Five-O that has the following scene... (At least I think I remember it and haven't completely made it up) Here is what I can tell you.

A rich family has put out a missing persons report for their son Bobby Kalema (AI gave me the name, so I don't trust it) a young man who rejects his inheritance and the responsibilities of his wealthy family. When McGarrett finally tracks him down he is with a bunch hippies who are camped out on the beach. In the scene I remember he is painting a picture of a woman on the beach. McGarrett brings the family lawyer out to meet/identify "Bobby" and "Bobby" confirms that he is the person the lawyer is looking for but refuses to sign any of the inheritance paperwork. The representative from the fathers family keeps trying to get him to sign papers, which he refuses to do and then suggests that McGarret arrest him. The "suit" from the mainland is then told that there is nothing illegal about "dropping out".

    I don't remember this as a main plotline, but possibly a sub-plot.

I have been watching through the seasons, but haven't run across it yet. I have tried all the AI sites but they keep hallucinating and making up episodes that don't exist, so at this point I don't discount the fact that I may be mis-remembering this entirely or maybe it comes from the reboot.

Thanks in advance. I know it isn't really all that important, but it is just bugging me so I thought I would reach out to the experts!

Try the episode from season 6 titled Why wait until Uncle Kevin dies? I remember there was some scam where people get their inheritance ahead of time from this company and they all were getting killed off so the company didn’t lose money. Been a while since I’ve seen it. But, vaguely remember it

I think it's from Season 1. As a matter of fact, it may even be Ep #1!

There is a red herring with a lawyer showing up at Five-O looking for his client. Only it's a girl and they find her living among the hippies. She fires him immediately and goes back to her friends.

A site that might be helpful is Mr. Mike's. It's here: https://www.fiveohomepage.com/#jump

He has every episode covered, broken down by seasons. Hope this helps!

Bobbi is likely correct. Sounds like "Full Fathom Five", episode #1 from September 1968.

Here's Mike's description of the scene:

McGarrett tells the Governor that in searching for Martha Finch, they uncovered at least 10 other women who "disappeared." The Governor, concerned about the safety of the "two million guests" who pass through Hawaii a year, says this has "got to be stopped." There are some interesting camera angles during their conversation.

Five-O's search for Martha Finch is a red herring, since she has been living with a bunch of hippies on a Honolulu beach. McGarrett checks out this "subculture" with Skaggs, finding the lawyer's reaction to it amusing. Martha tells her lawyer, "This hippie scene may not be the answer, but it's taught me one thing: I can do what I want. And I dearly wanna be rid of you." So she fires him. As he leaves Skaggs, McGarrett tells him "Peace, brother."

YESSSS!!!! Nailed it. Just watched the episode and that was it. I had forgotten that it was "Martha Finch" that was the actual subject of the scene.

Kudos to you and Todd. That had been bugging me all week. Well done!

Oh excellent! As I read your description, I could see it in my head.

It was only a question of which episode I had seen it.

    Glad to be of help!
