LALO was a living legend. For me there’s Morton Stevens and Lalo Schifrin as the best composers of 60s and 70s television. Not to mention his iconic film scores for Bullitt, Dirty Harry, and Enter the Dragon!
I often thought a lot of Morton Stevens’ Five-O stuff sounded (or seemed inspired) by Lalo’s sound. “Death is a Company Policy” in particular (especially the scenes when Five-O is raiding the different houses after Resko’s “voice from the grave” letter to McGarrett) sounds very much like a Schifrin score a la Bullitt or Dirty Harry.
